From now on, Sherloq is free to use FOREVER!

Yep, we’ve changed our pricing model to be freemium, which is better for you!

And hopefully better for us 😅

Here’s how it works:

  • Free Version: Get access to all our features, completely free!
  • Paid plan: unlimited saved queries on our platform, priced per seat.
  • 21-Day Free Trial: Try it all out with unlimited queries for 21 days, on us!

But Why?

Going back in time – we built Sherloq to create one place for all your SQL queries.
And as more users were using our product (overall yay!), we began to think what’s the best way to monetize this.

We looked at 2 main pricing models for these types of products:

  • Free Trial – that means that users will start paying based on time limitations.
  • Freemium – that means users will start paying based on usage limitations (could be anything between # of users/features etc).

We saw pros and cons to both, but the most important thing to us at that point as a company was focusing on revenue.
In our mind, the “easiest” way to get clear revenue is to limit our users on the amount of time they can use the product for free and then get them to decide – YES or NO.
Pretty straightforward, right? Well… wrong 🙁

What we kept hearing is that users were afraid that after the trial, they’d lose all the SQL queries they saved on Sherloq.

It actually got them to not save queries on Sherloq from the beginning.

We tried telling them that we would export each and every one of their queries and that they wouldn’t lose access to Sherloq until that happened.

But that wasn’t good enough, we kept hearing users over and over again saying that this is a real barrier to start using the product and engaging with it.

So by trying to create revenue, we were actually:
losing users and therefore -> losing customers and therefore -> losing revenue.

Hmm… not our best.
The good news is – we changed it!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on all of this so feel free to reach out: hello@sherloqdata.io
