As the company scaled, the need for reliable analytics became crucial to their day-to-day operations. That’s when the Weski team brought in their Head of Analytics, to manage data analytics efforts.

The Challenge:
Scattered SQL and Inefficient SQL Management 

The Head of Analytics was hired to enhance Weski’s data analytics processes and improve analytics efficiency. Having experienced the benefits of Sherloq at his previous company, he recognized its potential and brought it with him to Weski to address key SQL management challenges.

Without a central repository, queries were stored in multiple places and often difficult to track.

While they used DataGrip as their SQL editor, it was not ideal for saving and managing SQL queries. DataGrip is excellent for query writing and running, but lacks built-in features for organizing, centralizing, sharing, and version-controlling SQL queries in a collaborative environment.

• The ability to create SQL versions ensured that all queries were kept up-to-date and in sync. Additionally, the option to update versions directly from the SQL editor made it easy to maintain consistency without disrupting their existing workflow.

• With only one data person managing everything, ensuring alignment on company metrics, analysis, and SQL was crucial. Every analysis created ended with a Google Sheet summary, where a tab labeled “Queries” contained links to relevant SQL queries in Sherloq, promoting transparency and helping others understand the work behind each analysis.
